New “AGpoint” Screw Launched to Dramatically Reduce
Cross-Threading
~ Unique patent-pending tip design helps improve assembly productivity
and reduce product waste ~
NITTOSEIKO CO., LTD. (President: Makoto Araga; Head Office: 20 Umagahata, Ikura-cho, Ayabe, Kyoto, Japan; Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market; https://global.nittoseiko.com/) is pleased to announce the launch of its anti- cross-threading screw, “AGpoint,” on November 1, 2026. Our evaluation tests showed that the occurrence rate of cross-threading during screw fastening was reduced by 91% compared with conventional machine screws. A patent application has been filed for the product’s unique anti-cross threading tip profile.

Background to Development
In a wide range of assembly processes, including equipment for AI servers and electronic devices, fastening failures can occur due to cross-threading between male and female threads. Although cross-threading does not occur frequently, once it occurs, the product may be difficult to rework and may have to be scrapped. Production line stoppages caused by cross-threading can also reduce productivity.
There are many types of cross-threading, but our investigation found that most cases can be broadly classified into the two types shown in Figure 1. There has been a demand from assembly sites for a screw that can comprehensively prevent these types of cross-threading. In response to these needs, we developed a new anti-cross-threading screw, “AGpoint.”
Product Overview and Features
The “AG” in “AGpoint” stands for Alignment Guide. As the name suggests, AGpoint features a unique tip profile designed to enhance its anti-cross-threading performance during screw fastening (see Figure 2). The AGpoint tip profile consists of three elements: (1) Rounded Tip, (2) Straight Tip Section, and (3) Guide Section. Each element plays a specific role, as described below, allowing AGpoint to reduce the occurrence of both types of cross-threading described earlier.
① Rounded Tip — Improves insertion into the female thread and facilitates alignment.
② Straight Tip Section — Corrects thread orientation at the start of engagement,
helping to reduce cross-threading due to misalignment.
③ Guide Section — Corrects the screw’s orientation while helping to reduce cross-threading
in the incomplete thread section.
Benefits
・Reduces the occurrence rate of cross-threading by 91% compared with conventional machine screws
(JIS B 1111 cross-recessed machine screws with a blunt point)
① Test Results

② Screws Used in the Test
- M5 × 20 cross-recessed machine screws and AGpoint of the same dimensions.
③ Screw Fastening Conditions
- As shown in the table below, the screw axis was tilted by 5°
to increase the likelihood of cross-threading.
・This product helps reduce rework and product waste caused by fastening defects,
contributing to stable assembly quality and improved productivity.
